Look's like a mid to late 40's Dodge (46), I just can't place the grile, I would say custom with a ford theme.

It is a 1946 Dodge DeSoto
My uncle pulled it out of a junk yard and "customized" it
He chopped it 4 inches, lowered it 4 inches, its got a Chevy Nova subframe, Camero rear end, a Chevy 454 big block under the hood. I think the grill is something he custom made along with the louvers on the hood. Automatic door opener.... no door handles and a bunch of other mods. It was his baby

OK, the common factor is ergot of rye which is a fungus affecting grains that causes hallucinations, severe muscle twitches and gangrenous symptoms. LSD was first isolated from it and through historical research, it is thought to be the main contributor to the Salem Witch Trials. Ergotism has been around for hundreds of years and only linked to the grains in the late 19th century. Before that it had an unknown cause and led to many 'witch' trials and deaths. A theory is also out basing it as a leading cause of the bubonic plague. The rats contracted it and the fleas carrying the plague were forced to leave their dying hosts and prey on human hosts.
The last outbreak was in the 50's in southern France where a whole village was infected from wheat bread and had to be isolated in outbreak movie style when people were hallucinating and convulsing. Some would run through the streets naked and wild and deaths occured. Even a report of a young boy killing his family because of the hallucinations.
It's interesting because many events in Europe can be attributed to outbreaks sometimes called: St. Anthony's Fire and whole hospital systems were constructed to treat it even though at the time no known cause was apparent.
