Simple question that someone in this club should have the answer to. Is the bellhousings different from kaiser to amc? The 60's to the 70's in Jeep basically. Anyone know??????

You have to be more specific. AMC purchaced Kaiser-Jeep in 1970. So I could say no they are not. But then I could say yes they are if you're trying to put a dauntless bellhousing on a 401... I'm sure you know that you can take a bellhousing/tranny from just about any waggy/chief and put it in any other with maybe the only change being driveshaft length.

Ouch doesn't look like it'll be simple. It seems that you may have issues with mounts and firewall clearance and such.
I was looking at a T98 recently that had the long shaft on it.
The bellhousing should bolt up with out probs. They just put different adapters on them mostly. 230/304/360
You'll have to get the v8 flexplate because of the external balancing..
Is the transfercase divorced?

Hmm seems to be more complicated than I originally thought. I have a TF727 and a 304 block laying around, (same bolt pattern) when you get to the back of the 230 I can post measurements up to compare.
