muskegmike

My thanks goes to the many Fairbanks Offroad Lions Members whose friendly support and enthusiastic encouragement has made me a more confident and competent offroad driver. We originally bought our Rubicon so we could drive into a property we own that is surrounded by muskeg (hence the name). This afternoon we drove in and about halfway down the slope I realized it was a lot soggier than I expected. We were committed by then, and as we descended it got boggier and boggier. I gave her the gas and spit bog all the way to the cabin. I was concerned about the return trip since it was uphill and in worse shape now. I walked the trail, planned out a line to follow, and went for it. It was a wild ride, but we made it back to the trail head without stopping. Needless to say, there are some new drainage patterns out there now.
If I had not had the experiences of offroading with you guys (and gals, especially the fearless Oompa Loompa), I would have never made it.
