I've been hearing a lot about torquing lug nuts. I've never done it but instead have been relying on a two grunt method. In fact I laughed the last time someone offered me a torque wrench for my lugs so I'm one of those guys.. But/And if it's really cold when I put them on I will recheck once warmed up or a few miles/days down the road. Anyone have any thoughts/experiences on the subject?

I didn't torque my lugnuts for the longest time, but I periodically had lugnuts coming loose. Once on my way to Fbx. Creek I had 3 lugnuts completely exit my wheel, and the last two were halfway off before I noticed the wobble. That's actually where I got my wheellocks...because I didn't have spare lugnuts and someone else had the brand new set of locks sitting in her Jeep. :p I also know that overtightening the lugnuts by feel can warp the brake rotors.

I haven't been torquing them lately because I don't have a torque wrench, but I also have to deal with vibes when I brake, and I'm constantly worried about lugnuts coming loose.

Well i guess to each his own then , i have never torqued a lug nut and i have never had any come loose and or fall off, my suggestion is just put a little a** into it lol when tightening them down

But not too much.:thumb_yello:
A friend of mine overtightened his lug nuts (by hand) and stretched the studs so bad that he only made it a half mile before all the studs sheared off and his wheel passed him on the highway.

ok well check this out torque or not if you have aluminum rims you need to recheck your lugs every now and then anyway. steel wheels I don't worry about as much but aluminums keep your eyes on them. And I really like my signature addition

I kept over tightening my lug nuts and eventually stripped a few lug nuts and studs. I torque them now.
