Hi all, I'm Allen. Just pcs'd here from San Antonio. Current DD is 08 4XFord. However I'm the proud new owner of a POS 84 Toy 4runner which, like any other 25 year old vehicle has some issues. The only thing keeping it from being a driver though is the clutch. And the boss says I can't work on it until we finish unpacking.

Chevyguy1
09-11-2009, 12:07 AM
hey I'm Rich , well if you decide at any time to get rid of it or know of any cheap 4 runners or at least close to off road worthy toyo pickups , let me know.....

Nah, don't wanna get rid of it. I bought it for a dedicated off road TOY. But thanks for the offer. Maybe I can get to the clutch next week if work allows. Should be a pretty easy job. Nothing wrong with the clutch thats in it, other than the fact that its in backwards. Hoping to get it off road soon.

Hey guys, name's Joe. Some of you know me, from what I see most of you don't. I was planning on being one of the guys helping set this club up but life got in the way and pushed me out against my will, and I kinda fell away from 4-wheeling for a time there. I've wheeled a few times with Cory and Marek, and a few of the other guys on here, so they can attest to my passion for the hobby. ;)

Anyway...I'm back and almost ready to go! I drive a 2000 Jeep TJ on 31's that has a few issues to be worked out before it gets back on the trail. My general activity level with these things changes as my life goes through its stages but I plan on putting as much time as I can into 4-wheeling, helping foster a more positive image for 4-wheelers in the public eye, and get more people into the sport I've grown to have a love-hate relationship for over the 4 years I've been doing it. :p I'll try to get out to the October meeting but my schedule for that weekend has yet to rear its ugly head, as I'm taking a single 2-credit course which feels to me like a full-time semester. When it's done I'll have my BS in Geology and I'll officially be on my way to a career. Hope to see you all around and on the trails within short order.

Hows it going everyone! I have been invited to be a Vendor on your forum! It would be great for someone to start my thread, then I will get down to business.

For the personal information:

I current project is a 95 Jeep Wrangle, I have a 14 bolt, that i have shaved, disk brakes, w/ spool and 5.13 gears. Front is a Dana 60 HP w/ spool and 5.13 gears. The motor is a 351W FI out of a 96 F350, with headers, probably a BBK intake. The transmission is a C6, that will have a reverse manual valve body installed. Transfer case is a 205, that i will twin stick (i will start a thread on it when my venders status is started) I will be picking up some new 1350 flanges for the TF case. There wont be much left of my stock body, it will be Comp cut w/ a boat cut (also there will be a thread). I have alot of work to do to get my rig down the trail.

Thats all for now, I will see you all soon

Hi, My name is Ryan. I just got back from a 12 month deployment. Been here since March '07 and reenlisted for another 2 years up here. About a month ago I caved into the pressure from my friends a bought a dedicated off road rig. 1967 Kaiser Jeep M715 5/4 ton (Grizzly beaver). Running it with a bored 360 AMC, wide ratio T18 4-speed, Advance adapters Ranger III overdrive, Dana 20 t-case, Dana 60 front, 70 rear w/ Detroit locker, 4-wheel power disk brakes, and a 12500lb winch w/ front and rear mounts. I am new to the sport and wrenching in general. Always open to help and what not. Not planning anything until about Feb cause of christmas break, school, and surgery in jan.

Future plans:
wiper motors (currently hand manual)
door locks
parking brake**
hmmwv marker lights
in-bed tool box.

Great Ryan! So YOU bought the grizzley beaver! Cool! Come to our next meeting on Jan.6th! We are also doing a New Years run. Keep in touch here on the site and check the rides and meeting section so you know whats going on. Welcome and hope to meet you soon! We have a guy in the club with an old Kaiser on 47" Titans. We call him the General, you might have to be the Lt. Commander! LOL

I would love to come to the meeting but I'm going to be in the lower 48 for two weeks at that time. I'm not in any clubs at this time. I hang out with a small group of co-workers that do some rec wheeling on post or tag-a-longs. You may recognize one of my friend's rig. He drives a '78 Jeep J20 known as the Punisher. I will check up on your meetings and rides. Main thing now is getting a parking brake for the grizz.

drvnmsbessie
12-12-2009, 02:59 AM
We can help you with that e-brake. Have your buddies get ahold of us.

Was told to check you guys out by Arctic_express. Got a little Isuzu pickup and am dying to use it... Right now I have only ridden with AO twice, a long time ago. Was supposed to go with FrozenAxles last weekend but that fell through. I didn't know there were 4 groups in Fairbanks. Not interested in crazy flexing stuff (IFS front, with no lockers available), just good old trail-riding. I'll be watching for any upcoming rides and hope to tag along soon.

Short video of my little rig trail-riding on Ft. Wainwright last weekend...:coolpics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K1FLos3xRA

Hey Lawson Nate has my vote to join the club. his video is on Stumblinman and my pipeline trail that we did quite frequently during the winter. It also looks like the little creek they did twice is a bit more full than I am used to seeing. That spot can be quite challenging with less water or ice in it.

Hey all, another Justin here :D Cory (drvnmsbetsy) got ahold of me through craigslist, as I had an add posted he needed some parts from. Grew up in Fairbanks until I was 12, moved to Anchorage with my dad, got taught the ways of wrenchin' and got hooked! My 1/2 ton in my signature is currently my "wheeler" even though its really just a mistreated pavement pounder.

Hopefully I'll get a rig going this summer to come out to a meet, would love to go have some wheeling fun!

Hey I'm Seth. I just started wheeling about a year ago. I have an 88 Suzuki Samurai on 31's that I wheel every chance I get and another project Sami that I have high hopes to someday be an unstoppable wheeling machine. I currently live in Delta Junction, but will be moving back to Fairbanks this fall. I love wheeling. I can't get enough of it. And hopefully I'll have my Sami fixed up and ready to hit the trails again next week :D

Hey Seth. Are either of the Samurai's that you have a black one with wheel spacers, fastback top, sidedraft carbs, and a pissing Calvin?!? Wife made me sell mine a while back, a little over a year ago (to buy a house) and I have been trying to locate it to see if I can buy it back. I think who ever bought it lived in Delta.

One of mine is silver with a black stripe going down either side (was pink when I bought it but the pink had to go) and the other one is dark blue and has been completely stripped down for years. The only other Sami I've seen down here was white. I can ask around though and see if anyone else might know if someone down here has it.

I have a question about your Murphy dome trip. I saw the pics...looked like fun.
Will that road take you to the Chatanika river near the Minto flats?
I tried the road last summer and think I was on the wrong trail?
I was on top of the dome, near the radar site, from the top of the dome due west was a trail that went straight for quite a while. It was very rocky.
I have heard I was on the wrong road?
What is the best way to get to the Chatanika from that area?
Thanks.

I found out about your group today. I am fairly new to the interior. I spend a lot of time in the Delta Junction area. I have been riding dual sport bikes for over 20 years.
If anyone needs Land Rover parts let me know....I have a spare Disco. I look forward to getting together with the group for a ride one day.

Hey guys, my name is Will. I came out to start my '95 Toyota 4runner while at work to find a little card on my windshield placed by a guy named Skylar with your website and phone number. It also said something about "the next meeting or ride". I'm interested.
I'm fairly new to actual "wheeling"/off-roading, what have you, but would love to get into it more.
I have lived in Alaska all my life, but Fairbanks only for two years. I am originally from a small town on the Parks Highway about 120 miles north of Anchorage called Trapper Creek. I mainly just rode trails out to fishing spots or somewhere to hike.
I am an avid Toyota owner, having owned a '93 single cab 4x4 pick-up since I was 15 until just last year when I sold it for an '88 4runner. About 4 years. That 4runner had some unforeseen problems and I didnt have the dough to fix her so I sold it. Last summer I came across this '95 4Runner for pretty cheap in great condition, minus a few leaks, which I have fixed but one. All of these rigs have and are powered by the little 22re 2.4L 4cyl engine with the manual 5speed tranny.
I'll leave it at that for now. I'm hoping theres some room for a Toyota owner.

Figured it was about time to drop in and say howdy. I see there is a lot of names I recognize and some that I don't so I give you a little about me. My name is James I currently live in Coatesville PA I lived up in fairbanks 07-08. I spent most of my time with AO. I have always been into lifted trucks/jeeps but never really got into wheeling until I moved to alaska. I used to have a teal dodge that ended up with about 6" lift and 35's. I no longer have the dodge but everybody knows me by hillbillydodge so I decided to keep the name.I currently have a suzuki samurai that is my hienz 57. It is in the process of bieng streched 21" it is sitting on a toy 4-runner frame that has been shortened, it is sporting a roller/rockered 4.1 out of an old regal which is mated to a th350 followed up by a 6.5-1 toy case, the axles are stuffed with 5.29's, spool in the rear, posi in the front, with chromos and discs in the rear. I am hoping to one day get back up to alaska (wife permitting)lol but until then I am at least going to try to get up there for 1 week a year around m+g time to wheel with my old friends and hopefully make some new ones. If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask.

My name is Mike and I fell in love with Jeeps in my 20s with two consecutive 68 Wagoneers. Thirty years later we got a 77 CJ5 and last year we got an 09 Rubicon 4 door. Anyway, its got a winch!

Well I was given a card placed on my truck. I've been in town for 3 weeks so far, just moved from the Seattle area. I have a 1978 Ford Bronco, Painted Camo, with Mod's Galore. I've been wheeling for 11 years ever since getting my license. I'm a welder and commercial diver by trade, so if your rig sinks let me know and I'll dive down and get it lol.

Not sure i'll make it to the M.O.D. Run, but I'll definitely try to make it to the next meeting,

Hello, I seen your group up on the Fairbanks circle trail, I was the one with the older grizzly with my wife. I am very interested in trail rides and getting outdoors. I have an old rusted ford 4x4 truck and my grizzly 600. I would like to find an old Cherokee and build a trail rig. I am a pretty good mechanic and welder and like to use my skills, but we live at Sophie’s apartments and don't have a place to work on rigs. I have some tools and would be willing to trade skills for a place to work on my rigs!!

Name is Chris, married with 3 kids. Thanks to Uncle Sam I am now located in Virginia, but moving to Fort Wainwright in October. I Started wheeling out in Washington, spent a little over 2 years in NC before getting reassigned to Ft Lee. The only place I have wheeled was Uwaharri ( spelling ? ) over here on this coast. I did alot of crawling up in the NW. Originally from Oregon, but hey I get around. I own a 1993 4Runner, SAS with Rear Leaf Conversion, OBA with 200 psi 5gal tank, ARB Air locker up fron, Toyota E Locker in the rear, Optima Red Top, 36x12.50x15 TSL for wheeling and some 35in Pro Comp Xtreme Mud Terrains for driving, and quite a few other things I am forgetting here. I am curious as to what I should be looking to do this this thing before I have the Army ship it in September. I am already running full sythetic in everything from tranny to axles and transfer case. Once again I cant wait to get back into one of my favorite hobbies.

Hi everyone,
I am sure everyone has seen my LJ rolling in town! This is my first time every joining a club. I would like to get involved, meet people, wheel, and fab.
I decided to go with the Lions because of the numerous business cards left on my Jeep. (at least one a week)
A little about me I have been here in Fairbanks for 1.5 years and plan on staying here till retirement. I have two jeeps a LJ and a XJ. LJ is not too modded yet but getting there. I try to make everything myself to avoid stupid Alaska shipping prices.
Well, like to go wheeling soon. My jeep still has open front and rear! I am not going to lock them until I get my new 60's (no sense to pay twice for them) and at that point I will install my long arm suspension.
Well in the meantime a Turbo sounds good! I thought about a Hemi but too expensive for the HP vs cost.

Hi,

My name is Jordan and I recently moved to Fairbanks under the order of Uncle Sam. I have been wheeling for about 9 years.

I started in Arizona so I prefer rock crawling over mud but enjoy the comeraderie the most so as long as I have fun and someone who can help me fix stuff cuz Im not a very good mechanic.

Previous rigs include:
1993 Wrangler, 4 in lift, 33, 4.88s, Locked at both ends
1993 Cherokee, 10 lift, 35s, locked both ends
1986 Toyota, 4 in lift, 33s, 4.88s, locked both ends and some rear suspension mods for extra articulation.

Looking to pick up a mildly built CJ7 after my visit to Afghanistan next year.

Currently I only own my two daily drivers.

2005 Chevy Colorado 4x4 Z71
2008 Nissan Xterra Off Road. This one has the D44 Rear with locker, and limited slip in the front so although it is not lifted (YET) I wanna take it out and explore AK so Im ready to go whenever someone wants to show me some trails.

Look forward to meeting everybody. Im thinking Im gonna try to make it to tomorrow nights meeting.

Im thinking Im gonna try to make it to tomorrow nights meeting.

hey man nice to see new people on here how did you hear about us

I figured that I should probably introduce myself officially since I've been trolling here for a little bit, and even posted in the "Warn" products thread. My name is Jeremiah, and I've lived in Fairbanks my entire life. I'm not an offroad guru, but I've spent most of my free time wrenching on various things for the last 11 years. My current vehicle is a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser, and it is the first truck I've ever tried to set up for some offroad use. Currently I have an OME lift, Warn bumper and winch, Trail Gear sliders, Bajarack roof rack, Safari snorkel, and some other stuff. I just ordered a CB kit so I can be legal for trail rides with various clubs. Some of you have possibly seen me on the other clubs boards a bit. I'm excited to learn more about this offroad thing from all of you that have been doing it for a long time, and get out on some trails. I'm not sure what club I would fit in with best so I'm going to try and check them all out a bit. Anyways, this is hello, and thanks in advance for the help I know I'll get from you guys.

I too enjoy crawling, learnd at eagle rock on the Mt Baldy trail in co sprgs, played alot off rampart range and rainbow falls area. Unfortunately, wasn't sef up for Independance Trail before I left. Here we do decent trail rides to some prety good obstacles and try to only deal with mud when we have to. :notworthy:

Hello forum!

Ive been in Fairbanks for about 7 years now and I am a Land Cruiser aficionado. I have a 79 fj40 that is my daily driver that is mostly stock and a 77 fj40 that is all stock. Both will be getting some major improvements in the near future. I mostly use my rig for getting to my favorite hunting spots around and really enjoy wrenching and fabricating Totyota LC, but Im not apposed to any vehicle type. I am building my shop this summer and one of its main functions will be to work on my rigs!

Hey everybody. I got the club information from Cory the other day and am looking to meet some new people.

My wife and I just got up here in February, and should hopefully be closing on our new home here in a couple weeks!

I am in the Army and this is my second tour up here, very happy to be back!

As for my rig, I have a 1980 CJ7 that is still in the process of being completely rebuilt. She was shipped up here and I'll be able to pick her up once I have a garage to put her in. I'll happily post some pics sometime soon. Summary is that I tore it down to the frame and started rebuilding, with no real mechanical/automotive training, so it's been a long, adventurous process. She's got a rebuilt 360/727 mated to the original D300, 3.5" suspension, and all new guts (wiring, brake line, fuel lines, etc)

Anyway, looking forward to coming to the meeting this week if I can swing it, and meeting some people, maybe even someone who has time and tools to finish my CJ!

I heard about this club from a medic yesterday at the Ft. Wainwright Welcome Center. Just got to Alaska on Sunday. I have a 2004 TJ on 6 1/2" of total lift on 35's. Locked front and rear and skid plated front to rear. You will probably see me driving around post. It's the blue one with the Everglades Jeeps & 4x4 banner on the windshield.
