Hey folks I have an idea for a run, a run I have not seen before in town tell me your thougts. Sat.Sept. 19th we do 1 of two types...

1.- A night run, with a bonfire/BBQ. We have it at Fbks. Crk. since it is close and we know it well. We leave town around 6pm and drop pallets/fire wood at the rock on our way out to the domes then goof around on the hills in the dark then head back to the rock for our fire and BBQ.

2.- A sunrise run. Same place but we leave Fbks. at 4am so as to be on the the top of the domes at sunrise, then cruise over to Chatinika and have Breakfast.

what do you guys think?

Just a thought. I am open for suggestions. I figured since we know it so well, its close,ALOT of new guys and most have not wheeled in the dark it was the safe choice. As far as the ideas themselves which would you lean to.

I would have to say its a smart move to wheel in the dark around an area that is better known by most. Then again i do not know the area so one will be just as well as the next! I lean closer to the night run cause that just sounds like fun then a big bonfire to set it off would be great! Either way! I just need to go out on a ride!

If your wife sleeps in the Sammi, I'll tell mine to sleep in the Jeep! Then I will run away before she hits me with a rock!

Well we have two great options here. Both with pros and cons.

Fbks. Crk. Pros.
1. Close
2. Well known
3. Breakfast at Chat.
4. Easier Bypasses

Fbks. Crk. Cons.
1. Been done a bit this year
2. May be difficult in spots for guys on the Domes
3. Not as much fun to overnight as 55 mile

55 mile pros.
1. New to alot of guys
2. Nice camping at the river
3. Hot Springs soak
4. Truly gnarly climbs
5. Check out Olympia from that end and map GPS coord.
6. Cabins

55 Mile cons.
1. 55 miles from town
2. There WILL be winching guys w/o lockers at times
3. Could be difficult for guys with limited exp.
4. Road work going on and HC has thier crusher and Asphalt plant set up at the start of the trail head

I am game for either so what say you members?

Chevyguy1

friedtwinky
09-07-2009, 01:41 AM
Well, i know my jeep is **** when it comes to any kind of grades due to my carb! Other than that i am all for it. Just know ahead of time that i will be stalling out on climbs hahahahahah Dont worry, fuel injection is not far away and will come with the 4.6!!!!!!

arctic_express

55 mile is not a trail for carbs or non locked vehicles

Burgessmotors
09-07-2009, 05:01 PM
well, the fatty bronco cant do it for sure then! Carbed with an open front, and a rear with a posi Im not so sure about.

arctic_express

55 mile has already spanked justins bronco twice and sent him home to mommy...

friedtwinky
09-07-2009, 07:29 PM
Well since 55 miler is too much for non carbed and non lockers i got an idea..... lets come up with a trail thats not. I mean, i would be so lucky as to be able to ride any trial out there but im not, nor is half the other people out there. So lets pick a happy median and run with it.

drvnmsbessie

55 mile is a great trail to do but imo we need to get folks out together and get some trail and group time that the newer members can gain some experience and confidence in thier ability and rigs. My suggestion is we stick with the Fbks Crk. idea and lets pick what type of ride to do out of the two options suggested. So lets pick one of the two by the 12th and the most popular will be it.

friedtwinky
09-07-2009, 09:30 PM
Well i say FBKS Crk run at night then end up with the BBQ and Bonfire!!!!

I diddn't know that sammi's were alowed out passed 6:pm due to there bed time. Hey I would love to right seat a night ride and as far as staying out over night not so much but I will have to see what is going on around that time.

drvnmsbessie

This ride as with all we do is very 4wheeler and bike friendly. Come on along and bring a friend! :) I had a suggestion from a member that instead of a very late BBQ we eat dinner befrore we meet up for the ride and just do a Bon fire and snacks at the fire on our way out. I like the idea as a BBQ at 11pm or later is a bit late to eat. And this gives us a reason to do a BBQ later. :)

friedtwinky
09-08-2009, 11:54 AM
This is true! Beyond all doubt a bonfire would be wonderful. Maybe we can do a BBQ some other time but do it somewhere like pioneer park or just some random location so that maybe it could draw in more outsiders! I dunno, just a thought!

Well I've got a carb and open axles, and there's very little rubber left on my tires so I don't want to waste it all on pavement getting to a trail. Let me know when you are gonna play in my backyard(repp road)

Burgessmotors
09-08-2009, 11:23 PM
Get off your wallet and get some tires! (Im one to talk...)

drvnmsbessie
09-09-2009, 11:25 PM
OMG!!! Now if there was an award for sad excuses not to go, that " I've got no rubber" excuse is the tops!!! There are affordable tires around buddy! As far as you being open with a carb this trail is doable with what you have, tires to bucko!

Not everyone makes equipment operator money around here. You've all seen my vehicles, it's pretty suprising that you would actually assume I can just go spend $1000 bucks on tires just to make this run, and now that I remember, I'm running on borrowed rims too, still haven't switched off those no offset black ones. Does every run have to be up to a 7? Can we just go splashin through some mud for an hour sometime? All these rides require HOURS of pavement along with HOURS of wheeling, I'm not saying don't do them, but how bout something quick and easy for a little fun too huh?

Chevyguy1
09-13-2009, 03:35 PM
right on man i should be small enough in the nissan to hide out pretty good lol i think the kid wants to buy it though lol ...... it needs a new throw out bearing though the one in its going out....

Chevyguy1
09-13-2009, 03:38 PM
1st thing .... i haven't went to arctic fire yet since they are closed but i did go to sportsmans and i saw a highlift jack base pad and they were wanting bout 40 bucks for it , and between 60-70 for the highlifts, but the hardwear store down by brewsters had highlifts for 60, and a bunch of other cool s*%#.... 2nd playing in the mud sounds like fun as long as its not off of cushman lol

friedtwinky
09-13-2009, 07:23 PM
HAHAHa maybe you should just stay outta the mud all together!!!!!!!

friedtwinky
09-13-2009, 07:25 PM
OHHHHHHHHHHHH yeah, Rich and I were out on a trail the other day actually looking for FBKS Creek, never found it, but we did run across a bunch of pallets so we snagged a few of em to pitch in on the bonfire wood!
